Rosedale is rich in Real Estate History:  Originally the area of South Rosedale was settled as a homestead by William and Mary Jarvis in the 1820`s it was sold in 1864 and the neighbourhood (neighborhood) what is now known as South Rosedale was parceled and developed as a subdivision to then neighbouring Toronto. Mr. Jarvis, with his friend Joseph Bloor (also very prominent and wealthy citizen), recognized the real estate needs of the then burgeoning Toronto population and thusly created this community of luxury living with Toronto garden oasis type settings on the then outskirts of town.  In 1908 Rosedale expanded to include what is now North Rosedale.
Since this time, Toronto has grown to encircle the Rosedale  District to the extent as is depicted in the Maps of Toronto above.  Land is at a premium and most all pieces of Rosedale property have been developed . As has been witnessed throughout the various building and renovation booms, many new home owners have completed extensive renovations to keep current with modern day advances in technology: e.g.: home additions, both indoor swimming pools and outdoor swimming pools, fitness centers, exercise rooms, electrical and plumbing upgrades, etc.  Of note is that many of the Rosedale Homes are an important part of Toronto's heritage and as such historical designations protect many of the Rosedale buildings.

The often historic Rosedale Homes (Rosedale Houses, Rosedale Estates and Rosedale Mansions) serve to be ideal as a Toronto Executive Home suitable for elegant entertaining. The minimal traffic on these streets also makes Rosedale an ideal location as a Toronto Family Home. Being one of the city’s most affluent areas, many of Toronto’s finest homes can be found in Rosedale.  As many of the homes were built on an oversized property some of the Rosedale Homes have their own Toronto Garden Oasis with tall mature trees and park like scenery that is professionally landscaped and well maintained. Two car garage, three car garage and even four car garage homes can be located in Rosedale.  Ammenities such as Fitness Centers, Saunas, Swimming Pools, Wine Cellars and so forth would be some of the features one might find when searching for Rosedale Real Estate For Sale.

Several Rosedale Condominiums have been built along the southern (Bloor St.) and eastern (Yonge St.) perimeters and while Rosedale is most renown for it luxury homes and mansions the trend towards Condo Living (need for low maintenance re. the aging population) will no doubt increase the demand for the limited supply of Rosedale Condos. Current Real Estate Listings of Rosedale Condos for sale show five dwellings listed for sale with prices ranging from $349,000 (Two Bedrooms /One Bath) to $470,000 (Three Bedrooms /Two Baths).  There are condos in Rosedale that would sell for more than a million dollars (e.g. PH has three bedrooms, separate dining room, a fireplace, and jacuzzi) yet none are shown as being listed for sale.- they must be treasured by their homeowners who decide to keep Rosedale as their home.
